AN UNUSUAL CHILDHOOD (3284 – 3300)

Manuel Arterius „Techeron“ Hawthrone-Koller was born on the 21st of July, 3284 on Conversion in the Achenar System. He was the only son of an influential Imperial Senator and a service maid of the Emperor’s cabin. Being born into a life of wealth and endless possibilities, his father saw great potential in him. In early childhood however, it was noticed that Techeron started to exhibit very unusual behavior compared to other children and had difficulties in solving the most trivial tasks in kindergarten. After various tests it was discovered that Techeron had developed a rare kind of autism, called “Asperger's.” Only seeing the negative traits associated with this mental difference, his parents became concerned about their foreseen future for him and debated about treating this “illness”, in their eyes, with modern medicine. After many discussions on countless evenings, they ultimately decided against this idea, believing it to be the wrong choice regarding Imperial traditionalism to tamper with one’s mind and body and wanting their son to find his own way to overcome the challenges associated with autism.

When Techeron became old enough, he was sent to the Imperial Academy on Captiol, making the first steps in fulfilling his parents’ aspirations for him, to become an Imperial Senator of the High Council of Achenar, as his grandfather served as. He was a difficult student, spending his time in the Academy only on subjects he enjoyed and avoiding the rest. In time, this brought him expertise and knowledge which was comparable to even one of lectors as well as bad grades in the subjects he ignored. He was an incredibly fast learner, a rational thinker and was even allowed to hold lectures himself. By the end of mid-season, he outperformed anyone in his favorite subjects: History, Imperial Ship Technology and Astronomy. He strongly respected the rules of the Academy, always appearing punctual, keeping the norms and behaving exceptionally well and proper for an Imperial citizen. He started to enjoy being the center of attention and feeling more or less superior to everyone else at his age when it came to certain abilities; but he always tried to find a way that his abilities would not only benefit himself, but also, in some way, everyone else. Everyone in the Empire. While outperforming anyone in the things he loved. But more than once his father was called to the Academy by the Headmaster, to debate once more about this problematic constellation of strengths and weaknesses. He was a loner, rarely spending time with anyone which caused many to avoid him but a few like-minded intellectuals to surround him. Soon enough he became the leader of this small group and founded the “Imperial Speech Club” inside the Academy, focusing on his latest interest: the power and might of words.

Soon enough he became a famous speaker in the Academy who could drag anyone to his attention or manipulate their minds. Despite his monotone voice, he was able to inflict emotions, opinions and motivation into his listeners like nobody else could. One of his favorite topics to lecture about was the importance of tradition, as Imperial history was a very important topic for him, the reason for why he was allowed to be who he was, despite autism. Seeing the rise of Aisling Duval and a new form of Imperial society, he spent a great deal of time learning and researching about it, ultimately coming to the conclusion that it is a threat to Imperial tradition and a lean towards federal democratic systems which he very much despised. His political opinion formed very early in his life after spending a great amount of time learning about the galaxy, the superpowers, and the empire itself. While they would have started to teach and convince him themselves, his parents were surprised as he held them an almost ceremonial like speech of his pledge to traditionalism and so he was invited to take part in several hearings and meetings of the imperial traditional movement with his father with an age of only 11 years respectively.

A YOUNG PATRIOT (3301 – 3302)

While he enjoyed his stay at the Academy, outshining many students in various forms that have come before him, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to graduate because of his grades. Despite everything he accomplished, a century old school system would keep him away from gaining this highly anticipated degree because of a condition that does not fit even into the 32st century. Realizing this, his mood darkened, and he counted the days when this little dreamlife where he was the unique center of attention would be over. He started to take more and more material of his beloved subjects home with him and continued to study remotely in case he wouldn’t be able to access these ever again. His family suffered some loss of reputation for his performances, but he reassured them that this way of his will be worth it, just like his mother said many years ago. But one day, everything changed and turned his life into a new direction.

His class was making an excursion on Capitol, the Empire’s capital planet, which he wouldn’t dare to miss out on. They visited the Imperial Bureau of Space Logistics when, in front of their eyes, a hijacking took place. An Anaconda was starting to take off without permission and the class observed as a pair of Imperial guards were kicked out of the airlock by what looked like disguised pirates, stripping themselves from the cover they wore. While everyone just stood there and watched in awe, Techeron felt an unshakable urge that this was his first and only chance to prove what he is capable of. Memorizing the inside of the facility, he rushed to the next hangar bay and entered a GU-97. Piloting it like as if he did many times before, he pursued the Anaconda into the Atmosphere of Capitol. After realizing that he wasn’t able to penetrate its shields with a simple beam laser, he decided to ram the ship and fire directly through its shields at an engine compensator. The Beam Laser was able to drill through the hull and decapitated the engine ports, effectively disabling the engines of the Anaconda. In the process, his ship suffered severe damage and lost maneuverability. He plunged into the ocean as he watched through the Cockpit as ships of the IISS closed in, unable to determine what happened to the Anaconda.

After being brought back to the planetary port, he was immediately greeted by the owner of the stolen Anaconda, which turned out to be an Imperial Prince from the Paras System called Elenar. The Prince was surprised and in awe of Techeron’s courage and heroism and invited him to a dinner where the two were able to learn more about each other. Soon the news of Techeron’s heroic acts were in main topic of discussion inside the Achenar system and the public called for an award for him. With the pledge of the Imperial Prince Elenar, Techeron was granted the Imperial Cross of Heroism, the highest award a citizen of the empire can be bestowed upon. He received this award in the Imperial High Senate on Capitol by Emperor Henigst Duval himself who was more than surprised to find such a young person to be honored this kind of award, in fact he was the youngest recipient ever recorded in Imperial history. The ceremony was open to view for the entirety of the population and was received overwhelmingly positive. His parents were immensely proud of him, and this very day became the best day of his life. He used the opportunity to hold a short speech in front of the entire Empire to remind them of the importance of Tradition, Imperial society and giving people like him a chance to prove themselves. A few days later he received another invitation from the Imperial Prince to come and visit him in the Paras System, where he resides in. Upon arrival on Wilson Station, the Imperial Prince greeted him inside a hangar bay where an Imperial Clipper was stationed. Elenar gifted Techeron this very Clipper alongside a Commanders License on Trial which he passed soon after and officially asked him to join his faction the “Achenar Immortals” as his right-hand man. Techeron accepted gracefully and dove deep into this new life he was offered.

By taking on the role of a Commander and a faction representative, one thing was clear. There was no time for the academy on Capitol anymore, which he wouldn’t be able to finish otherwise. He broke up with school and was let go honorably on his last day by a crowd of cheering students and professors, reminding and encouraging him that this was the way he was destined to follow and that he will always be remembered for his extraordinary history that impacted the Academy forever. During his time with the Achenar Immortals he was finally able to use all his acquired knowledge and theory and put it into practice, especially his piloting skills. In a relatively short amount of time, he gained a huge number of credits by taking on missions, learned all sorts of new skills and improved existing ones through the help of the Imperial Prince and self-study and became a respected individual among the faction. During these times he was also able to disable and hunt down a known federal terrorist, Jethro Sharpe, earning him yet another commemoration and his first introduction to the other superpowers of the galaxy, which he viewed as almost alienlike, compared to the empire.

But these glorious days would end sooner than expected when the Achenar Immortals were one day betrayed by one of their own. During a meeting on Wilson Station in Paras, their home system, a pirate invasion occurred. One of the other right-hand men of the Achenar Immortals carried out a surprise attack on present members, including Techeron. The entire faction was overthrown by pirate spies in an instant, assets destroyed, and the Imperial Prince assassinated. Techeron managed to take out the right-hand man in a duel and overload an energy conversion port in the station, causing a huge explosion and taking out most of the present traitors, before fleeing the system, eventually leaving behind what he once called his second home and all the history and success associated to it.

IN SERVICE OF JUSTICE (3302)

When he returned to Achenar following the fall of the Achenar Immortals he was the only member left to present a detailed description of what has happened to the faction. He was called upon the Achenar High Council, the most powerful senate of the empire, to explain what has happened. After reporting to the Senate, he was released back to his family and spent a few days recounting the last year. Unexpectedly he received another invitation to the Achenar High Council a few days later. Unsure about this summoning he found himself in front of the High Senate and the new appointed Emperor Arrissa-Lavigny Duval. On this day it was decided that Techeron shall receive the offer to become an agent of the Achenar High Council, an extremely rare honor normally bestowed upon the most successful of the empire. It was elaborated to him, that with his not even 18 years, he has already proven to be an outstanding individual with much talent, potential and loyalty.

Acknowledged by the power his unusual mind possesses he was given the chance to ultimately show how much and how far he can go. After the ceremony, he was immediately introduced to a 10 month long training program which asserted his physical and mental strengths and received an experimental education in diplomatic, military, social and representative skills as well as imperial law. During this time, he focused only on the goal of passing these tests and learning as much as he could. From one top institution to the next and in less than a year he managed to become proficient in representing the mind and heart of the empire. His natural ability in ship handling proved to be vital for his training in the imperial navy to which they quickly recommended him to join the ranks of imperial elite fighters. When it came to personal combat, Techeron chose the role of a hit and run fighter, striking fast and proving agility where his choice of light armor and light weapons reflects upon. Completing an internship with the Imperial Guard, Techeron was noted for his iron will in defeating his enemies with honor and style which is considered to be the ultimate Imperial way. It was with the imperial Guard, were he found new influential friends as well. One of his greatest strengths was the majestic sword. After discovering his potential with the sword, he focused on martial arts for some time before training his already golden tongue to become his greatest power and first choice of weapon by influencing and or manipulating those that hear his voice in a way which would benefit the empire or himself. It was noted that many of his autistic abilities would actually come in exceptionally handy for certain fields of operations and provided him with a clear advantage over previous candidates when it came to executing tasks and choices with difficult morality, which brought him the nickname "Imperial Lawbringer." After completing his initial training, he was granted the honor of carrying the name of the High Senate and the Emperor across the stars, as an official Agent of the highest installation of the empire, all that with the insignia and the colours of his family, house Hawthorne-Koller.

Now ready and fully trained in a role which he could only dream of before, Techeron was assigned to numerous missions by Senators, Chancellors, once even the Emperor herself and conducted many operations on his own. The High Senate was impressed with his abilities and so was everyone else when an 18-year-old appeared and proclaimed to be sent by the highest imperial governmental structure there is.

A PRISMATIC OPPORTUNITY (3302 – 3303)

On a totally uneventful day, he received an unexpected message from a certain individual named Marcus DiPalo asking for his support in an ongoing crime investigation of the uttermost importance against a corrupt Overseer of the Empire. Upon arriving in the Cubeo system, home of Progressive Ideals and the Prismatic Imperium, he was greeted by Lord Herald Kevin Massey and informed about the current situation. Granted the permission by the Achenar High Senate, he pursued known terrorist Spencer Isaak over the course of a year, assisted in PI crime investigations, and slowly but surely integrated himself in the ranks of the faction. The hunt for Spencer Isaak took up most of his time, for the better part of a year when he was introduced to the PI, but occasionally, he researched and informed himself about the Prismatic Imperium and its members. Despite it being a Progressive faction under the wings of Aisling Duval, whom he viewed as a bit too democratic, he enjoyed his stay and faced relatively few accusations for his political opinion and was even offered several promotions later.

It didn’t take long for them to not only discover his worth in this case but also acknowledge his tremendous expertise in astronomy and all fields associated with it, when he was invited to a trip to Emerald Observatory by the current Lord Headmaster Rogue. Inspired by Spencer Isaak’s riddles and his obsessions with the Dark Wheel and the Thargoids, Techeron started to discover his love for astronomy and the mysteries of the galaxy on a whole new level. It went as far as him regularly organizing lectures in the Observatory and quickly working his rank up in the Branch of Sight which he joined not even a month after the PI, often performing studies and tests in several subjects he couldn’t finish in his old academy, collecting one degree after another.

He was appointed Vice Headmaster of the Branch of Sight when the current one, Fenduril, stepped down after realizing the potential and worth Techeron could bring in. After killing Spencer Isaak, Techeron was awarded with yet another award and became a public hero in the PI. Soon after he was also promoted to Lord Headmaster of the entire branch and finally concluded a degree in astronomy, astrophysics, and astrobiology, effectively entering a Leadership position in the PI. He was now in charge of the second most prestigious institution of the empire and was permanently appointed from the Achenar High Senate to keep this position as it was a vital advantage to have one of their agents so close to an essential scientific research partner.

Just in time, when the Thargoids returned, Techeron and his observatory were on the front of developing latest technology, carrying out survey tasks and alien research and founding an inter-factional Xeno-Division for the defense of imperial space, which was regarded as a perfect operational field where his abilities were mostly needed as of this time, according to Senator Anders Blaine.

HEADMASTER OF THE HEARTS (3303 – 3306)

The time that followed after Spencer Isaak’s death was a prosperous one and often referred by him as “the golden age”. Techeron enjoyed his position as Lord Headmaster, regularly reporting back to Achenar and the High Senate. Over the course of 3 years, he was involved in many of the stories, happenings and events that took part in the Prismatic Imperium and their Senators, Commanders, and guests. He encountered Monty Erickson from the Dark Wheel and discovered more about Spencer Isaak’s backstory. He was a vital member in the Simulation Center arch, he fought on the frontline of the Void War and hid sensitive data from the Branch of Sight on the moon of Cubeo.

He went on a mission with his friends to find hidden treasures in the depths of an ocean world, despite developing Thalassophobia from him plumbing into the ocean in his Anaconda pursuit a few years ago. He took part in a secret mission on the remote outpost of Gordon Depot where he and others hunted down Hallos Williams and the Tyrant Thorn. He was one of the first witnesses of the return of the Thargoid Species and merely escaped some first encounters. He almost had 2 relationships but decided to stay away from such “complicated social things” as it was only a distraction for his work. He recruited numerous members for the Branch of Sight, held speeches and lectures, appointed 3 Vices over the course of this time and held the record for most broken office windows. Sometimes he would return home to Achenar and his parents, sometimes spending time on a beach resort known as Trapeze Island on Cubeo III. These were the best and most adventurous times of his life where he found even more success, good friends and lived 2 lifes at once. This time greatly improved his social skills as well, an aspect of his life which still has low importance to him, hence his sometimes curious statements or actions.

During these times, he always kept up to date with the Achenar High Council and regularly joined senate sessions, ceremonial and cultural events or carried out missions, in his ever-growing fleet of Gutamaya ships, the “Iraxius Fleet” which he personally engineered to the max and later stationed on his own grand investment, the Fleet Carrier “The Iraxius Prime”. With all these grand events taking part in the galaxy he also couldn’t miss out on some of the most important like taking part in the Salome incident or research abandoned settlements far away from the bubble as well as many more activities and adventures on his own which he referred to as his “Commander adventures”. This is where he realized that his alias as “Techeron” comes in handy, as his popularity and people actually knowing him would decrease, the farther he’d go, providing needed anonymity.

TIME OF TURMOIL (3307)

In 3307, things took a turn for the worse. Techeron was confronted with an increasing amount of criticism when more and more Citizens and Senators questioned his loyalty to the PI and “other life” as agent of Achenar and feared for an infiltration of traditional aspects in the PI government. The accusations rose quickly and lowered his reputation inside the progressivist faction. Over the course of the year, he was invited to many interviews with The People’s Media to explain and elaborate on his position and ranks, something the High Senate was not pleased with. In midsummer however, an imperial King from Achenar, King Varkus Delray, sent an official request to the Prismatic Imperium for a claim of the Evermore Region and to return to this land his ancestors once owned. A hefty discussion erupted and the current owner of the land, Duke Earl Heart, turned red.

In the following months, session after session was concluded in the senate and Techeron played a vital part in analyzing the legitimacy of the claim and its background. Due to his resources and access from Achenar, he was quickly able to determine that despite some questionable affairs, the claim of the King was flawless and urged the Senate to accept this circumstance in order to avoid the loss of legitimacy and honor. After a vote in the senate decided in the favor of King Delray, Techeron walked out pleased, only to find out that Duke Heart considered the matter to be dealt with in a more “direct” way. Progress slowed down and the official decision was never announced to the King which made Techeron increasingly frustrated.

When the INV Surreptitious, flagship of King Delray, eventually arrived late 3307 in the Cubeo System and descended into the Great Valley of Evermore, Techeron was the first to step on board and pledge his support to the King, fully aware that this might end his time as PI Government Official, in favor of protecting imperial law which he has sworn to protect and felt a far greater responsibility to. As his original duties for the Achenar High Council in the PI in researching countermeasures against thargoids and current AX-Technology already reached a point where other, less prestigious imperial institutions where able to keep up pace without problem, he felt like his work was already done. The Prismatic Senate went silent and, in his eyes, made a dishonorable decision to procrastinate the Delray matter as long as possible due to the assumed stubbornness of one single Duke. The King’s claim was protected by Imperial law and while only being a small matter and talk in the Achenar High Senate, Techeron took this matter personally and was ready to stand up for Imperial law which was clearly being neglected and broken here, even going so far as to stand on the side of the King, should a war between his forces and the ones from the Prismatic Imperium happen.

ESCALATION OF LOYALITY (3308)

The tense atmosphere in Evermore Valley only increased in the new year, when independent groups and villages in the Valley started to form the Evermore Nation as a reaction of the worrisome developments. In the first months, Techeron increased his support for the King in numerous ways. He was allowed to partake in Senate hearings of the Spymaster and even held sessions himself. Despite facing increasing backlash, he did not let loose of his righteous opinion as he felt the responsibility to protect imperial law as an agent of the Achenar High Senate.

After hearing from the abduction of Producer Marina Yao of the PI he shifted his attention to the Diamond Market, a PI trade market, to a closer extend, as of recent, this organization seemed to be involved in shady business. It was also around that time when he was first introduced to X, a mysterious item collector connected to the Diamond Market that was also autistic, to which he formed an unusual relationship to. He began to uncover secret experiments, a lot of corruption, and the works of an Imperial traitor family which uses the market to obtain incredible amounts of currency for their own. After being invited by Commander Dex, he joined his team of investigators to yet another but bigger case of potential terrorism. His physical presence in the Emerald Observatory decreased as he was often either in Evermore or at his home on Conversion in Achenar after unusual and worrisome internal developments. When it was discovered that Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval was captured by NMLA forces and a task force of the Imperial Guard prepared to storm the suspected vessel where she was being held at, he joined the team and carried out wing support for the ship that transported the Elite units.

In Midsummer he commissioned the production of an experimental GU-97 Short-range Fighter for the military and prepared to use the first prototype as personal vessel in the now unavoidable incoming Evermore War. He deployed several of his personal mercenaries to eradicate pirates in Evermore Valley in the name of the King and launched an undercover operation to organize a group of pirates to destroy a part of the Abyssos Core powerline to weaken Duke Earl Harts logistics, which went horribly wrong when he failed to take out the pirates leader and almost got killed by Imperial forces. Their leader, the Black Lion, later invaded Evermore Valley with the same terrorist force, but got crushed quickly. In the final battle, Techeron led “Valkyrie Squadron”, an Elite Squadron of GU-97s from King Delray, in battle and prevented a friendly fire incident between this joined effort of all 3 Evermore factions.

After he developed a successful cover story in his involvement in the destruction of the powerline, he received the order to support imperial forces with his own AX combat expertise in the battle of HIP 22460, the largest thargoid conflict he has ever witnessed. When Salvations Anti-Thargoid weapon failed, Techeron was caught in the middle of the system wide EMP, witnessing the Thargoid roar and spending multiple hours rescuing any remaining imperial survivors. An emergency meeting in the Imperial High Council was concluded with the ultimate outcome for all Achenar High Council Agents to remain on highest alert for the arrival of 8 interstellar anomalies, carrying a dangerous threat for Imperial space.

In November, he became an honorary member of Lavingy’s Legion, the emperors personal defense organization, sharing his resources and operating in a far larger military force than previously, to prepare for what is to come. Now Techeron faces an uncertain and difficult future, between the greatest threat the empire has ever seen and the political stolidness of an entire system, ruining itself while doing so.

As he is currently tirelessly engaged as strategic and scientific advisor for the newly formed Imperial Xeno Defense Division in protecting the imperial part of the human bubble from the ongoing Thargoid Invasion he stands ready to do what is necessary in the name of Law, Order, and imperial rule, even if it will cost him his own life.
